Suppressor of the Blood

This is a player-created build, done on the latest patch of the game.

Created by Rashtor Nesmarck

Introduction

The purpose of this page is to provide an up-and-running bayonet build by the time you finish the Cathedral of the Sacred Blood. The user then can choose to tweak the build to their liking according to their progress, or change the build entirely.

Take in mind that albeit the main weapons are Bayonets, this is not meant to be a purist Bayonet build. The use of  parry, launch, combo and charged Drain Attacks are still part of the kit, as it increases our Ichor. Normal attacks regain Ichor too, but bayonet's normal attacks are usually done in a pinch.

Equipment

Weapon 1: Brodiaea (Fortification)
Weapon 2: Riot Breaker (Devour or Fortification)
Blood Veil: Festive Thorn/Night Thorn
Blood Code: Hunter. Later in the game, Queen's Breath or Harmonia.
Primary Active Gifts: Ranged Impact, Fusillade Rondo, Overdrive, Blood Sacrifice.
Recommended Mobility: Normal (exploration) or Quick (bosses).

Basics

The Bayonets listed above serve different purposes and approaches.

  • Brodiaea is your go-to for though enemies and bosses. It has higher range and damage than Riot Breaker does on single targets, and also faster projectile speed. It's also extremely light, which allows you to reach Quick mobility. It has the downside of (in terms of this build's purpose) bad availability, so if the player needs a replacement (like Sunset Bayonet) until they manage to aquire it, that's completely fine.
  • Riot Breaker is your crowd-clearing weapon. The charged shots deal above-average stagger and pierce infinitely through enemies and enviroment, having the potential of very high damage in relation to Ichor cost. It also has decent availability and a different melee moveset to most bayonets. The normal shots have very low range and are not as great as charged shots with their pierce, but can be used if needed.

The Blood Veil Festive Thorn is Ivy type, and its availability is great (can be purchased from Murasame as soon as you are able to buy things from her in Home Base, for a dirty cheap price). The purpose of this Blood Veil is three-fold:

  1. Decent Gift rating of both Light and Dark (for the players that use offensive gifts along their bayonets) for any purpose they may need. This is optional, but a welcome addition.
  2. Very light weight, allowing you to have a good mobility with your weapons.
  3. Regain Ichor and increases Max Ichor capacity from a distance, as Ivy-type Blood Veils can aim their Charged Drain Attacks at range.

You will be primarily using Charged Drain Attacks to increase your Max Ichor stock, while you can use Combo Drains and normal attacks from your Bayonets to regain Ichor until you get your hands on the Blood Sacrifice Gift (which thankfully can be found relatively early in the game).

Passives

Your options will be severely limited in the early game, so there's very few "must have" passives. I will also list below the passive gifts found later in the game in case you want to tweak the build, but I will assume you don't have access to DLCs.

  1. Weapon Drain Rating Up: For normal weapon attacks. Bayonets are not known for having good Drain Rating on their attacks, but if you must, this passive will help you keep topped up better. This is also the reason why one of your Bayonets can have Devour transformation on them.
  2. Ichor Strikes: While Ichor Strikes would in theory be "no brainer must use" passive, it has the downside that the Ichor Cost of your shoots can never go below 1. This means that your normal shots will still cost you at least 1 Ichor (which they already do at base), so it's better used on Charged Shots instead to benefit from it. You also need to time your Focus windows very well and pay attention to it to use it at its fullest.
  3. Resilient Focus: While getting hit is not really a smart idea, it still makes progress to fill your Focus gauge, so Resilient Focus helps to fill it faster. This is only relevant if you're using Ichor Strikes very often.
  4. Savvy Evasion: Timing your dodges fills your focus bar and prevents you from getting damage, so it's the better way to build up Focus. Savvy Evasion helps to fill your Focus gauge faster while doing this. This is only relevant if you're using Ichor Strikes very often, although getting a full stamina recovery after a dodge is nice.
  5. Vow of Ichor: The last obtainable possible passive gift of this build, found on the Isis Blood Code. It decreases your Max HP but increases your Max Ichor stock by 6. The Max HP decrease is actually beneficial when paired with Blood Sacrifice (since the damage scales with your HP, but your Regeneration heals a flat amount), and is even better when used along Cleansing Light. You won't obtain it until you finish the build (or more specifically, the intended purpose of it), but it's a very good passive to have for anything.

Mid-Late Game Passives

In case you want to stay with this build and tweak it further as you go, you will have available better options as you progress:

  1. Increased Gift Speed: Decreases the time needed to buff yourself, and use Fusillade Rondo.
  2. Swift Destruction: Increases all your damage dealt by 10%/20% based on mobility (Normal/Quick).
  3. Focused Gift Speed: Slightly worse than Increased Gift Speed (although it stacks with itself). If you're using Ichor Strikes, there's rarely a reason you would use this along it, because you'd have to take advantage of Ichor Strikes by shooting your bayonet, instead of using the increased gift speed this passive gives.
  4. Bayonet Mastery: Increases all your bayonet damage by 20%. If you want to go for max damage potential, there's really not a reason to not pick this up.
  5. Avarice: If you need more Ichor gain from your Charged Drains, this is your passive. It does not affect Max Ichor gained however.
  6. Max Ichor Boost: Increases Max Ichor by 4 and stacks with Vow of Ichor.
  7. Charge Accelerator: This passive increases the speed of both your Charged Drains (not as relevant most of the time) and Charged Attacks (extremely more relevant). Stacks further with the consumable Charge Booster and the Gift Time Crunch.

 Setups

Early to Mid-Game Setup

Gifts (In order from top to bottom)

Explanation

Recommended Blood Veil
Overdrive Increases all of your damage by 20%, stacks with itself (if used by an NPC or another player on co-op), but is dispelled as soon as you get hit. We're going to be at range most of the time anyways so there's no reason to not use it on exploration at least.
Ranged Impact The highest buff to your damage for your bayonet shots. The duration is short, and the cost isn't exactly low either, so apply on careful consideration of the situation. A must have for any self-respecting bayonet build.
Merciless Reaper This is extremely situational to use. Its meant to be used on your Charged Drain attacks (backstab and parry attacks benefit from it too if needed) to increase your damage. Not so as much for Bayonet Shots, unless you're dealing with enemies with shields.
Fusillade Rondo One of the very few Bayonet-exclusive Gift Skills. Has better damage on Brodiaea than Riot Breaker, and the cast time is relatively slow, so use on huge opportunity windows, or at long range.
Blood Sacrifice A must have for most a lot of builds (and even more so for some bayonet builds). In exchange for a portion (%) of your HP, you recover 6 ichor. Your weapon (bayonets) rely mainly on Ichor to be at their best. Don't go without this gift. Festive Thorn/Night Thorn
Cleansing Light This is what will keep you from draining all your regeneration uses on exploration and boss fights when using Blood Sacrifice. It's availability is not very good, but still a huge boon nonetheless. You may use Hunting Feast if you use normal attacks until you get your hands on this gift.
Restorative Offering For co-op or when paired with an NPC. May be changed for another buff or an utility gift, or even an offensive Gift.
Vivification/Flexible Just to return to the Mistle quickly when needed. It may be replaced with something else, like a elemental protection Gift, or a status removal Gift.

This is the setup you will be running most of the time. You can add and replace some of the Gifts as  you progress through the game and the areas.

Mid-Late Game Setup

Gifts (In order from top to bottom)

Explanation

Recommended Blood Veil

Overdrive Increases all of your damage by 20%, stacks with itself (if used by an NPC or another player on co-op), but is dispelled as soon as you get hit. We're going to be at range most of the time anyways so there's no reason to not use it on exploration at least.
Ranged Impact The highest buff to your damage for your bayonet shots. The duration is short, and the cost isn't exactly low either, so apply on careful consideration of the situation. A must have for any self-respecting bayonet build.
Merciless Reaper/Blood Shot Still extremely situational to use. You can replace it with an offensive gift of your liking.
Fusillade Rondo One of the very few Bayonet-exclusive Gift Skills. Has better damage on Brodiaea than Riot Breaker, and the cast time is relatively slow, so use on huge opportunity windows, or at long range. Since you have more options to increase your Gift Speed, this becomes less riskier to cast. Raven Fatigues/Suicide Spur
Blood Sacrifice/Bloodsucking Blades
  • Blood Sacrifice for all your buffing and shooting related needs. Cleansing Light is definitely available by now so pair this with it.
  • Bloodsucking Blades scales with your Dark Gift rating, and is the reason for the change in Blood Veil. In case you don't want to tank your HP any more and regain Ichor through weapon attacks, this is your mainstay buff.
Gift Prowess Increases the speed of your buffs and Fusilade Rondo. Stacks with other instances of gift increasing speed. While it does not affect your shoots, it does affect your downtime on recasting buffs, and shortens your recovery time after using Fusilade Rondo. If neither are desirable for you, you may change it for something like Gift Extension.
Time Crunch Increases the speed of your charged bayonet shots and charged drain attacks. If you abuse of Charged Shots everytime you can, this is a must to have.
Cleansing Light/Hunting Feast
  • Cleansing Light recovers your HP after receiving any kind of HP damage (including Blood Sacrifice). Availability won't be an issue anyjmore so it will be essential to prevent your regeneration from being drained too quickly.
  • Hunting Feast is here because unlike the early game setup, you can stack this with Bloodsucking Blades for more Ichor gain per weapon attack, and normal weapon attacks become an actual viable way of recovering Ichor in the middle of combat. Not a huge boost, but if you don't want to use Blood Sacrifice + Cleansing Light, you could do worse than this passive.

Assuming you want to go late-game with this build, this setup focus more on damage, speed and sustain in exchange for flexibility.
