Ichor in Code Vein acts as Mana that is needed to execute Active Gifts and is also categorized as the ammunition used for the Bayonet Rifle.

Ichor in Code Vein is a special material that can be seen at the bottom right of the screen next to the equipped Gifts, ichor is required to execute Gifts that can aid players in battle and can be replenished in different ways.

What does Ichor Do?

Ichor is somehow similar to Bloodborne's Quicksilver Bullet which is a flat number shown at the bottom right corner of the screen. It is a material that is consumed once an Active Gift is used and if a player is using the Bayonet Rifle or other weapons with Gift Triggers as noted in their item descriptions.

Ichor Recovery

At the beginning of the game, players will normally start off with a fair amount of ichor that can be stored. Once it has been consumed, ichor can be replenished in many ways such as:

  • Resting at a Mistle.
  • Striking the Enemies with melee attacks.
  • Successfully Parrying an enemy's attack.
  • Performing a Backstab on an enemy.
  • Striking an enemy with your Blood Veil.
  • Defeating A Boss.
  • Blocking multiple attacks.
  • Consumables.
  • Gifts.

Also, another important reminder to take note of is:

  1. Resting at a Mistle replenishes Ichor but your ichor stock limit will return to normal if it's been increased by Gifts/Attacks.
  2. Performing a Drain attack (Backstab, parry, charged drain, combo drain, focused launch attack) on an enemy not only replenishes ichor but also increases the amount that can be stored.

Ichor Upgrades

Max Ichor can be temporarily increased with the aforementioned Drain Attacks, and the items below. However, all of these will be undone upon resting at a Mistle  or dying. Additionally, items and drain attacks can only increase the max ichor about 20 units. There is no way to permanently increase max Ichor beyond simply equipping a Blood Code with a higher max or a passive gift that increases it.

Items that affect Ichor:

Some items grant temporary effects on the ichor such as an increase in the value that can be stored or consumables that replenish ichor - this section will be updated once more information is known.

  • Ichor Concentrate - A small vial filled with ichor. Using this provides a small amount of ichor.
  • Ichor Coagulant - Medicine that cures leak. Can block the effect is used before being afflicted. Causes slowly drained ichor to be stored inside the body.
  • Murasame's Ichor Blend - A drug made from Murasame's blood mixed with Lost ichor. Using it increases the maximum amount of ichor that can be held.
  • Coco's Ichor Blend - A drug made from Coco's blood mixed with Lost ichor. Using it increases the maximum amount of ichor that can be held.
  • Louis's Ichor Blend - A drug made from Louis's blood mixed with Lost ichor. Using it increases the maximum amount of ichor that can be held.
  • Io's Ichor Blend - A drug made from Io's blood mixed with Lost ichor. Using it increases the maximum amount of ichor that can be held.

Gifts that Affect Ichor

Some gifts can alleviate ichor costs or increase ichor generation.

  • Blood Awakening - A Communal Gift with Mia. Reduces ichor cost and enhances Gifts, but lowers attack power.
  • Weapon Drain Rating Up (Caster) - Increases the drain rating of weapon attacks.
  • Ichor Strikes (Hunter) - Reduces the ichor cost of weapon attacks while you are focused.
  • Blood Sacrifice (Hunter) - Spends your own HP to gain ichor.
  • Hunting Feast (Hunter) - Temporarily increases the drain rating of weapon attacks.

There is a passive late game to increase ichor to max on Harmonie blood code it's called max ichor boost and it's a permanent passive ability for any code to equip but only once you max it's proficiency for the passive.

"Players can increase the amount of Ichor that can be stored in certain ways such as increasing the level of your character by using Haze and by leveling up your character, it increases the base stat of the amount of stored ichor." Either that was worded weirdly or that happens at much higher levels/bigger increase level gaps, because I've never seen my Ichor increase when leveling up.
