Merciless Reaper is an Active Gift in Code Vein. Merciless Reaper is a deficient gift found in the Assassin Blood Code. Through Gifts, players may perform unique actions such as buffing and healing themselves and their Companions, debuffing Enemies or dealing direct damage to enemies.

Merciless Reaper Information

  • Once activated, the next attack of the user will ignore part of the enemy's physical and weapon defenses.
    • Ichor Cost: 4
    • Cooldown: 5sec.
    • Attack Type: n/a
    • Non-Physical: n/a

  • To max out its proficiency, players need to:
    • Kill enemies while equipping this gift or;
    • Use 3200 Haze and 5 Awake MJ212 at a Mistle.

Merciless Reaper Acquisition

  • This gift can be found in the Assassin Blood Code.
    • Assassin Vestige III is required to acquire this gift.
    • 6400 Haze is required to acquire this gift.

Merciless Reaper Notes

  • This gift also applies its effects to weapon projectiles (like bayonet shots) and gift triggers.
  • Only affects the first hit of multi-hit combos or skill type gifts.
  • The effect will be consumed even if the attack does not hit an enemy.
  • Has no effect on elemental defenses, but it does affect the damage of Light/Dark offensive Gifts (depending of the enemy).
    • The effect is not consumed when casting offensive gifts, and can provide a damage boost for its whole duration.
    • Damage boost is noticeable when using Gifts like Ice Barrage and Frost Spike on enemies such as Gilded Hunter.
  • This gift's effect can destroy other gifts' barriers in one hit, such as Successor of the Ribcage's blood barrier in phase 2.
    • Offensive Light/Dark gifts benefit from this effect too.
  • Provides no benefit against enemies with 0% physical resistance.
  • Negative physical resistance will be quadrupled ( -10% will become -40%)
  • Positive physical resistance will be reduced to a quarter (40% will become 10%)
  • The physical defense reduction applies to Drain Attacks, including charged ones. The buff will not be consumed (unless performing a launching drain attack).
    • This gives parries and backstabs higher damage if performed on the correct enemy, as long as the buff remains active.
    • Since different Blood Veils have different types of physical damage on drain attacks, the user can change accordingly to deal more damage to their respective enemies.

For a dark mage build, is it better to use Dark Shout, or Merciless Reaper? The cost is the same, Shout will always increase damage, while Reaper only with enemies with high defenses, but at the same time, Reaper works for more than one spell, increases gain from Chaotic Ash, and in case of enemies with very high defenses (Virgin Born) it may yield better results . I wouldn't want to equip both of them so, which one?
