Code Vein is an action-RPG game developed and published by the God Eater team at Bandai Namco. Originally launched with a Dark Souls reminescent trailer called "Prepare to Dine", the game generated some confusion among the Souls fanbase as the next FromSoftware title. Confusion was cleared up, but similarities in game approach and combat mechanics remain.

In Code Vein, players will take on the role of hidden members of the Revenant society, the Vein. These vampiric beings crave blood and lose their memories, but are able to perform fantastic feats of skill and strength.

Game Story Overview

In the not too distant future, a mysterious disaster has brought collapse to the world as we know it.  Towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity’s past pierced by the Thorns of Judgment. At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood. Give into the bloodlust fully and risk becoming one of the Lost, fiendish ghouls devoid of any remaining humanity. Wandering aimlessly in search of blood, the Lost will stop at nothing to satisfy their hunger. Team up and embark on a journey to the ends of hell to unlock your past and escape your living nightmare in CODE VEIN.

game is easy, expected to be more refined yet the experience is mediocre at best. fast paced combat system yet feels like unpolished. feels like im swinging through a ghost. i dont feel like i "hit" enemy. and enemy is blind, they wont notice you even if ur standing right in front of them. music has nothing special, no impact to the feels of the game. might as well just mute the music. even my character footstep is quiet yet when i "dodge or dash" it suddenly make a sound effect. boss fight is bad compared to other kinds of similar genre of this game (nioh, sekiro, darksouls, etc.). the design overall is generic, even by anime standard. you meet 1 boss and it looks like a female, u meet another one and also looks like a female, except it has spears and its blue, u find another boss and its guess what? another female boss but its orange and black in colour. so far, only the white wolf boss and the virgin body is quite unique in design that manage to amaze me. combat patterns? everything gonna one shot u so better dodge or use a tank build and wait for ur partner to deal the damage. pattern is quite easy to read, but somehow it feels messy. storyline? cringe. u can replay all the cutscenes so its worth to skip. but its anime so it is to be expected. overall? 6/10. this is probably souls-genre type of game made to be the simplest. its not bad, depends how u look at it, its just unpolished to me.

On first impressions the game looks very easy. Small shards = titanite shads from DS. Medium Shards = Large Titanite Shards in DS. Both type of shards are available very early in the game. Easy to upgrade weapons. In DS games large shards were not that easy to get early game. Combat looks nice but too many items to use/consume. Played the demo and it was mediocre at the best.
